Other Store Locations

I also want to mention that Cut Above The Rest in the Sault, also carries my pendants. Flo has a bowl at the register area and she graciously sells my jewelry.
If you are looking for a full service salon with a top notch staff...please visit Cut Above The Rest. I am constantly amazed at the professionalism of "Flo and Her Girls".
One more place that I need to mention that my mom's sewing and my work can be found is at Snickerdoodle's in Pickford. The Ledy girls have been friends of mine for years, and their food is delicious. If you are driving through Pickford, promise me that you will stop in for a CINNAMON ROLL. They are so yummy.

Sault Realism Now Carries My Clay Work

I'm happy to announce that Sault Realism in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan on Portage Ave. now is a retail storefront where people can by my work!

I have on display inspirational "dishettes" (small dishes with a wide range of uses), and my trademark pendants. Also, for sale, I have handpainted ceramic mugs, cups, and "Shrugs" (short mugs that the store owner, Kathy, creatively named).

Eric and Kathy Demeray have a beautiful and newly expanded gallery. You need to come see it.

My friend, Stephanie Monet, also has her gorgeous glass and jewelry "Baubles" in the gallery. Stephanie's work has gone far beyond her jewelry designs she originated with. Now, she does glass window pieces, slumped glass, garden picks, nightlights, soap dishes, ring holders, and the list goes on. Hopefully, Steph and I are going to also come up with some creations together.

Being a former store owner...I just want to encourage people to visit Sault Realism. Eric does amazing art and photography reproduction and restoration. And, Kathy is an expert at matting and framing. Her years of experience definitely show in her work.

Sweet 16 Birthday Bash

Saturday I had a great first experience. Sam, an incredibly sweet 16 year old, had her birthday party in the studio.
7 teenagers, lots of chatting, laughing, and about 2 hours later...each girl had handpainted 2 pendants and selected necklace cords for each of their creations.
I would really like to host more get togethers like this...so, hopefully it's the beginning of something new.
It would be wonderful to have Birthday Parties, Girls Nights (don't all women wish they had a fun way they could spend the evening with girlfriends?), Workshops for small groups, and I would really like to play with the idea of Workshops for Children. If you are intersted please let me know.

Workshop Photos

Carmen was the first to complete her garden stake. She also brought the delicious little "Chocolate Pudding Shooters" (shown on the table). I will get the recipe and post it. They were a perfect little treat for "Girls Nite". Steph blew us away with her creativity. Tracey surprised herself with hidden talent. And, Susan is a natural!

PENDANTS, PENDANTS, PENDANTS

The clay is drying and I'm getting ready to fire another load of my favorite thing of the moment to create...
Earthenware Pendants!
These will definitely be listed on Etsy. But, locally they can be bought at Cut Above The Rest on Ashmun Street, and soon I will have a display at Sault Realism on Portage Ave. in our chilly Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan
Also, I have rubber cords available in
black and brown to coordinate.
The pendants cost $7-$11 each. The cords are $5-$9 each.

WORKSHOP 101

Lake Superior State University asked me to hold two workshops as part of the Community Enrichment classes they offer to the public. I was very excited to be asked ,...but then instantly worried about what projects would I do? UGH!!
Well, I got some ideas together, and did a trial run with four of my friends tonight. What a hit.
We made (actually they did) 40"tall garden stakes out of earthenware clay. This was step one of a three step process, but... how exciting. The girls rolled, pinched and designed a large flower, leaves, and "stems". They were so creative and two of them claim to be "artistically challenged".
I think the project will be great for the workshop, and I am looking forward to trying the second workshop idea (hand painted ceramic bisque travel mugs) on my "little guinea pigs".
Step two will be having the girls come back after the clay has hardened and been fired to glaze (paint) there outdoor beauties.
It was a wonderful night with good friends (some old, some new), laughing, eating, drinking, and being creative!!!
I will post photos after the weekend is over.
Happy Weekend.

MY FIRST BLOG

One of many 2009 New Year resolutions was to start a blog. Even though I have a lot to learn, I need to start somewhere and tonight,... January 10th I'm starting!

I want to create this little "information area" to get people excited about my new adventure with my studio.

I tested the waters locally over the holidays, and as far as I can tell people are interested in my creation in clay and ceramics. So, now it is time to set up my store with the famous Etsy.com.

My friends laugh when they hear me talk about etsy. But, it is truly an incredible marketplace online for crafters and artists.

I hope to have my site "up and selling" by February 1st. I am afraid I have been researching it to death, but...I want to do it right, but... I need to get listing my items and TRY !

My etsy site will be CherylStevensStudio.etsy.com

Please stop by and see my creations, I am ready for this new adventure.

Happy Snow,
Cheryl
